What is baseball? Baseball is a sport that
consists of a bat and ball. It is a game that is played between two
teams, each comprised of nine players. The main objective or the
goal of the game is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a
bat and touching a series of four markers called bases arranged at
the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond . The players on
one team, who are found to be on the offense take turns hitting
while the other team, happens to be on the defense tries to stop
them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in any of several
ways. Keep in mind that a player happening to be on offense can
stop at any of the bases and hope to score on a teammate's hit.
The teams eventually switch between offense and defense when the
team that is batting finally gets their third strike. The team with
the most homeruns at the end of the game wins the game.
This happens to be the entire story or
mode of play, that has a earned a huge number of admirers, all over
the world, especially in the realm of the United States of America.
Well, it would be wrong to say that this very sport is a recent
phenomenon. Truly speaking, the game of baseball has been around
for decades, often times recognized as "America's national sport".
How did it originate? It has been opined by the researchers and
experts in general, that the game has been the result of getting
influenced by cricket and rounder, both very popular games
originating in Great Britain. In this respect it should be said,
that the modern game of baseball is the result of the gradual
development over the years. If we look at history we shall find
that by the end of the 18th century, indeed many forms of baseball
were present all over the United States. Only in the City of New
York, there was the existence of a game called "One o' Cat". There
were other cities that were playing "Town Ball" and "New York
Ball". These early interpretations of the sport were played on a
square field. Originally people were creative on their bases and
used such things as stakes or stones but after several injuries
they decided that they needed something softer so they agreed on
sand filled sacks. So sliding on the bases would not hurt so
much.
Now, what we perceive at present is a much
different aspect from the past. If we pay close attention we will
discover that there is the presence of several aspects that have
made the game of baseball what it is. Take for instance, the
strategy of a team. It does entirely depend on the strategy of a
team to make or break whether or not that particular team will win
or lose games. For instance, when one player may be a fast runner,
or power hitter, the next player could be a dependable bunter. A
batting order is determined by the players’ strengths and how
the team works together in orders to try to advance runners and get
players on the bases. Though the presence of these characteristics
baseball has become a competitive, skill-driven sport and over the
years has never lost the real reason as to why it is so
popular.
Another game that is very popular is Billiards it is a game anyone can play. And with
a few billiard 8 balls tips you will soon be
